Sorry...very short e-mail...

Monday, August 27, 2012

Hola everyone,

This week was a good. I don't have hardly any time this week to email. We taught 11 lessons and 170 some odd contacts. It was alright. We have to keep on finding. WE HAD OUR FIRST INVESTIGATOR TO CHURCH THIS TRANSFER!! This is the hardest area I've ever been in to keep people to keep commitments. But, it's not us who does the converting, it's the Holy Ghost who helps people have the "mighty change of heart."

I certainly have had the might change in heart that Alma talks about, some haven't yet, even though they have been born in the church. But I know it will come to all someday. This is the Gospel of Christ. This is his work. I love the mission. I love this tag and I never want to take it off.

Pray for the Macias family. They need some help, but they are so prepared to come unto the true Gospel of Christ. I love all of you and you're all in my prayers nightly. Sorry we had some emergencies come up this p-day and I don't have time to expound on things.

Next week will be the best email ever. Love you and hope everyone has a great week!

Hola mis chavalos

Monday August 20, 2012

Hola mis chavalos,

WOW what a week. We did WORK! This past week was the most efficient week OF MY MISSION. We had 17 lessons (which is still not 20 so there's room for improvement), and 306 OYM's. It was going sooo good until Sunday came and nobody came to church....I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I HAVE TO DO TO GET THESE PEOPLE TO CHURCH!! I felt the spirit SOO strong in every single one of our lessons, invited these people to come to church, got a yes, “do you need a ride?”   “Yes”, they say…We say, “Great, we'll get you a ride.”  OK, boom done ya.....and NOTHING! We call them Sunday morning, “Still plannin on coming to church?”    “No.”  they say.  We ask, “Why?”  Then, here come the excuses…”Because I have things to do”, or  “I’m tired”,  or  “We’re going out of town”, or  “I’ll just be cool and not even answer the phone”.....I'm about to go by a bike trailer and tow these people to church. Ridiculous!.....anyways sorry for the rant. That's missionary work. Ups and downs, but the ups DEFINATELY outweigh the downs.

So I'm on track to finish the Book of Mormon again by the end of August, then I'm making a goal to read the entire Bible, Bible Dictionary, Book of Mormon and Pearl of Great Price before the end of my mish. That's 4,450 pages in 9 months, which means 17 pages a day. I'm stoked!

We found 6 new investigators this week. I want to talk about Juan and Marivel. Juan is 24 and Marivel is 37.......tiiiiiny little difference in age, but it's ok, it's Spanishland. I don't think they're married but we can fix that. Marivel has been through a LOT of trials in her life. She grew up in downtown LA, sometimes with a roof sometimes not. As we began to teach the 1st lesson, We talked about God and who he is, and I had the strongest impression to stop and change the lesson.  We decided to teach about the Atonement of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I asked, "Marivel, How do you know that God loves you?" ( BTW, one of my favorite questions)   She paused and said, “ I don't know.”  I said, “Think about it a little bit…”   Well…the Hoover Dam might as well have sprung a leak. She was in tears the whole lesson (and I was literally dripping with sweat the WHOLE lesson). They are prepared and I can't wait to see the progress and change the Gospel of Jesus Christ with make in their lives.

I love all of you. You're all in my prayers. Mike I can't wait for you to leave and serve the Lord with all your heart, might, mind and strength. I love you pal. NEVER LET UP. Never make excuses not to work. You're going to be a GREAT missionary. You just have to do your part. Love ya feito.

Monday August 13, 2012

Hello everyone,

This week was alright.......we only taught 5 lessons......that stinks big time. We've got some BIIIIIIG renovating to do in this area. We're going to drop like 3/4 of our teaching pool because we get too focused on people who are either too lazy to progress, don't want to progress, or don't want to make time to progress. So we're going to REFILL that pool and find like 2,934,387,549,832 new investigators. Elder Rytting and Christensen taught these people WAY too long. We've got some real solid potentials.

I'm excited for this area to progress, and I'm gonna work this greenie to the bone. We are going to take shorter lunches than we already are and Dedicate OUR TIME COMPLETELY TO THE LORD. Sometimes full-time missionaries don't do that. They get caught up in things at home. Sorry fam but I'm not going to think about you once this week. We got 281 oyms this week and we’re going to get 300 this week. I’m  really excited to work my physical self to exhaustion but I'll be good because GOD BLESSES US WHEN WE LIVE CONSECRATED LIVES. I'm sick of stupid people, and sick of lazy missionaries. Excuse me for the rant.

Go to church. Love the Lord. He loves you. I know it because I see it in every one of these fetchers here in Southern California....me included. I pray for charity for every one of these people, I can improve; you can improve no matter who you are, Bishop Dial.  Work to strengthen your testimony stronger this week. I'll do the same. Love you and hope to hear from all next week!!!
Love,

Hola todos.
This week was good. It seemed a little less productive during the week but now as I look back we did work. We picked up 4 new investigators last night. They are a referral from a member. La familia Macias. They are SICK. They lived in Odgen for 3 years. We went over, talked about the atonement and Jesus Christ and it was a great lesson. After the closing prayer we got talking about Utah and how great it is. Southern California SUCKS! I will never live here. Way too hot, too many people, and every once in a while the mountains here disappear because of pollution. But I love it because this field is white and ready to harvest. The mission is great. I got to go back to my last area for the baptism of Adriana. She is as solid as my biceps. I love that lady. Her skin's as black as night, but she's completely mexicana. She's even got the black people hair and all the racist features all other black people have..its the greatest. Speaking of black people. Here in Moreno Valley it is AAAALLLLLLLL black people. Literally. More than any other place ive been in. Our appartment complex REAKSSSSSS of weed. Literally I think that's I sleep better at night here, and why I eat more. The woman's name below us is Jereatha. The elders who we live with have an investigator named LaMonica, their Team-ups name is Cashman......Cash for short. His literal given name is Cash. I don't want to sound racist, but WOW. THat's blacker than the black socks I wear every week. anyways. Mike is dece. He didn't come to church so we'll probably have to move his date back. I've got a good feeling about the macias family though. Sorry about the short email. I had 17 to read haha. LOVE YOU!
