This is the greatest time of my life!

Monday September 24, 2012

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemens,

This week has been a good one. We did some work. Last week at church we had a lady named Alejandrina come to church. She is a friend of a less active member. They both showed up to church, and Alejandrina LOVED Gospel Principles. I hate that class. Everyone feels the need to share their personal life story, and we never get through all the class. Oh well. She loved it and we gave her a Gospel Principles book. During third hour we saw her reading it out in the lobby. We went out and talked to her and asked if she had any questions. She asked, "Who is Joseph Smith??" Great Question. We taught her the first lesson right there in the third hour and she is SOOOOOO solid. We didn't have a chance to contact her again this week but when we came Sunday night, she had read all of 1 Nephi and half of Gospel Principles. I'm excited to see her progress in the Gospel.

Then we taught Luz. She's the best. She just worked her last Sunday and then she will TRULY progress in the Gospel.

We worked real hard this week. We got so many Oym's (Open Your Mouth, they keep track of every time they speak to someone about the gospel…on the street or out in public areas…)that we got the whole Zone averaged 153 per companionship. There were about 3-4 out of 8 companioships who didn't get the 140. We got 252 it was awesome. I really love how when we work hard we are truly happy.

This work is the greatest work of them all. Frank is going to be baptized conference weekend. He couldn't come to church this weekend because he had to stay with his suicidal niece who is suicidal due to alcoholism. Fetch. I hate SATAN.

This is the greatest time of my life. I've learned to work hard, be organized, and trust in GOD. Not myself. It's the best. Mom you're the best for the package. I love you so much. The banana bars were gone in like 3 hours.

Love you and Hope you have a good week

I will NOT take my nametag off!

Hello everyone,

This week was great, not for numbers but because I'm a set apart servant of the Lord. We didn't have a chance to get our OYM's but we did alright.

I have lots of things to talk about today. We picked up new investigators and got a visit by Paul B. Pieper THAT GUY is going to be the next apostle when my boy Boyd K. kicks the can. This guy came and gave an excellent training to the whole mission;  for the first 20 minutes he rebuked all the jakes in the mission and yelled "DONT YOU DARE USE THESE TWO YEARS TO OCCUPY TIME!" It was the best; I just thought about all the jakes and smiled. Don't be lazy. Don't be a baby. Don't be a fetch. Accept the Atonement of Jesus Christ and don't waste the time that God gives us here on this earth.

We picked up a new investigator named Luz. She's on date for the 13th of August. Her mom got baptized in Compton and told her she should investigate too. So she did. She knows the BOM is true. IT's awesome. On Sat night our members took us out to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. THEIR CHOICE I DID NOT ASK TO GO THERE. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT WAS BYU VS UT THAT NIGHT. I saw the 2nd quarter. Man it was bad. I felt awful. But as we were walking in we met her husband, and that guy is HUGE. JACKED. YOLKED. SHREDDED. Whatever you want to call it his arms are as big as my thighs and he's all tatted up from head to toe and I gave the guy a hug when I met him. Ya. I did it. He's gonna get baptized too. We haven't taught him yet, but it'll happen.

This is the Lord's work, He's at the head of this church. I WILL NOT  take my tag off. I'm going to go live in the temple and never leave.

 Love you,

Editor’s note: Matt went to the Dr. this week…he is doing OK with his BG numbers, however, the Dr. is concerned about some brown spots on his ankles and feet  related to circulation so he is now required to wear compression socks all day every day.  He’s not thrilled, but will be compliant.

Buenos dias mi gente,

Last week was a little slow. We worked hard but our numbers don't really show it. I hate that. This week we’re going to kill it.

Frank our investigator who was supposed to get baptized this Saturday will NOT be baptized. He sent us a text Sunday morning and I quote, "Dial i am sorry i didnt answr., i am very cunfuzd at my state of mimd. i can ex plane.! Next time we meet. Domt get me wrong i hold the 2of u in high regard i see u guys as brothers i always needed. This wkend sum thgs hapnd that made feel unworthy i need to talk w my uncle he is a mor man i also nd 2 spk 2my eldest son i need sm tme 2 thx"

Why is Satan the way that he is? Every time as missionaries we try to make something fun, or excited he makes it not...that way....I hate SO MUCH about the things that he chooses to be (office quote). I HATE SATAN. We're going to go over there tonight and try and help the guy out and resolve some dudas.

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is real. As soon as people understand that the only thing missionaries will have to worry about is getting pneumonia from standing in the baptismal font too long.

The Macias family is in Frisco for like 2 weeks. We got a member referral from a recent convert named La Familia Arregin. They are super tight. The Hermana invited us in like she was expecting us. They offered us some toasted mexican bread that is packaged and toasted hard enough you could build a house with that ish. Threw some Nutella on it and said "COMAN ELDERES!!" Super nice people. We're going to go over there tomorrow night.

Kat and Josh are a part member family....well they aren't married. But they are a super cool couple who have been taught by a lot of missionaries. Pray for Josh. He is a fire-fighter and SUPER PREPARED, but he can't come to church because he works Sunday-Wednesday at the station. Pray that he'll be able to find a way to come to church. I love that guy. We went over at like 830 one night to see how they were doing and we got to try on all his fire fighting gear and I decided I want to do that as a profession :) we'll see. Anyways we are still in finding mode and ya it's good.

Be consecrated disciples of Christ! That's the only way to achieve the true happiness that everyone looks and searches for. Sacrifice is the ONLY way to happiness. Jesus Christ did it for us. We just have to lay down our barriers and USE THE ATONEMENT OF CHRIST, JESUS.

I love you all and go to church you pimples!

LOW blood sugars/transfers and stolen investigators!

Tuesday September, 4, 2012

Hey everyone,

I just read all my emails and then had a low blood sugar of like IDK how low but I couldn’t even read.....so we ran to McDonalds I ate 3 Mcdoubles in 2 bites each and downed a large chocolate shake and now I'm starting to feel better...but It could still sound/look a little crazy this one ,ladies and gents. Also I only have 15 mins soooo yeah..here we go.

This week was a decent one. Transfers. I'm staying in this area with my companion. No surprise there. We had two investigators to church this Sunday, so that was good.

Frank Martinez is a super cool guy. He is divorced from his two wives and has like 7 kids. He is not in the best shape financially, but he loves his children which is most important. He has a big interest in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He has a lot of interest in the Plan of Salvation. He's on date for the 15th of this month. He's pretty solid. He loves to build/fix bikes for a living, that's a plus for us! I'm pretty sure I have the best lookin/nicest bike in the mission. NBD. We've taught
frank the first 3 lessons and he just seems to take EVERYTHING in and accept it. I'm just waiting for some weird doubt to come up that we need to resolve, but none yet. We’ll teach the commandments tonight.

The mission is the greatest. Elder Cook (huge guy I served around in Jurupa), Forster (last comp), and Fisher (trainer) went home. Everyone I know in the mission is going home....I don’t like that. We just found out that one of our most golden investigators has been poached for the past year and a half from the English missionaries. Katrina is half Indian (pocahontas indian), and half white. She looks Hispanic, so we just figured she spoke Spanish. She only speaks English. We have a date for her marriage so she can finally get baptized, hopefully the English elders don’t mess this one up.

I don't have much more to say. I forgot my camera sooo sorry about that....next week I'll have all kinds of good photos for all of ya.

I know this is the work of the Lord. This is his church. He suffered for each and every one of us so we could attain the eternal happiness that everyone in this world seeks. Love you all and GET TO CHURCH SLIME!

 Love,

Elder Matt
